Cost of living
HAUS reports that the most recent figures show the monthly cost of living away from home comes to €812 while those who remain at home will have to budget for €404. This leaves the total cost for a student living away from home in self-catering shared accommodation for the eight-and-a-half month academic year at almost €7,000.
However HAUS would like to stress that while the total spend seems like a lot of money, these are minimum amounts for survival with a small portion allocated to social life. Just a few statistics to counter with the next time someone quotes you how many braincells are killed by a single can of dutch of gold!!
How not to treat your house…
According to reports provided to HAUS in the aftermath of the B’n’L ball many students are unaware of exactly how ones house should be treated. One student is reported to have claimed ignorance when taken in by police for throwing a vase through a window. Others known to have kicked holes in walls and in one case ripped a payphone from its socket claimed likewise. Never one to let down the loyal customers of UCD Haus will be providing class’s on house treatment etiquette.
